HISTORY OF REFRESHING SPRINGS
On March 6th, 2009 (the year of divine completeness), Pastor Brown heard the instructions of the Lord pronouncing that “It’s time to shepherd my people.” After consulting with Bishop Mark H. Blade, the Jurisdictional Prelate of Indiana First, Bishop Blade surrendered his blessings upon Pastor Brown resulting in Refreshing Springs COGIC. The first service was held on March 15th, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Temple located at 600 East Alto Road, Kokomo, IN, where Pastor David R. Sr. and Lady Marilyn R. Carter unshakably said “yes” in the sharing of their sanctuary for the cause of the Kingdom. During this service, Pastor Brown charged the congregants to action concerning the ministry: we must Forgive (St. Mark 11:24-26); we must Focus (Colossians 3:1-4); and we must Flourish (3 John 2).
On June 28th, 2009, the official name of the ministry, Refreshing Springs Church of God In Christ--“A Kingdom of Praisers” was presented to the congregants as it was bestowed unto Pastor Brown, by the Holy Spirit. Although there were many supporting scriptures throughout the transition, including 1 Samuel 21:1; 24:1; 28:1; 26:1; 29:1, and Chapters 30 and 31, it was Acts 3:19 and Isaiah 41:18 that supported the ministry name. In such, Isaiah 41:18 yielded the church’s prophetic song of how a refreshing fountain of water is provided by the Lord in the desert place. In addition to the prophetic flow of song and word, the Almighty One has anointed Pastor Brown to see what natural eyes can’t see. Through this illumination, Pastor Brown can spiritually see clear healing waters; spouts of water continuously flowing and moving through the aisles and altar of the sanctuary.
Pastor Brown, along with his Queenly wife, Lady Tarita Brown, was installed on July 18, 2009 by Bishop Blade during the 1st Jurisdiction Holy Convocation. God has prospered Refreshing Springs COGIC with the addition of many souls. They have come, as saved and as new converts, from other religious groups, ethnic backgrounds, and cultures. As we remain obedient to the commands of God, His right hand will increase the flock of His church, which is The Kingdom here on Earth. As it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things [great things] which God hath prepared for them that love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV). And, they all will see and say, “The stone which we rejected has become the chief; this is surely the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
