The Lord's Servant

Supt. A. Wendell Brown, Jr., a fourth-generation member of the Church of God in Christ, was born the eldest son of Albert Wendell and Mary (Lyle) Brown, Sr.  At the tender age of 11-years old, he recognized the importance of an authentic relationship with God.  As a result, he fully surrendered his life to the Lord at the age of 11 years old while under the leadership of Father Lewis J. Hall at Grace Memorial Church Of God in Christ.  During his adolescent years, he was judged as a “different child” because the hand of God was [and still is] upon his life.  He was relentlessly active in worship services and programs on the district, state, and national levels.

As a dedicated servant of the Lord, Supt. Brown currently serves as the Superintendent of Mt. Zion District IN 1st Jurisdiction and has worked in ministry in many capacities, i.e. District Sunday School Superintendent, Assistant State Sunday School Superintendent, IN 1st Jurisdiction Leadership Conference Chairman, Administrative Assistant to Bishop Mark H. Blade, and currently 3rd Administrative Assistant to Jurisdictional Prelate Carl Jean Steen Jr.  In 2003, as Elder Brown, he was appointed Pastor of Grace Memorial COGIC, concurrently as Elder Milton L Hall, Jr. was appointed Senior Pastor.  While serving faithfully in the position of “Grace,” as Pastor concurrently with Senior Pastor Elder Milton L Hall Jr., the verdict of the Lord was proclaimed.  Under the directive of the Holy Spirit and Pastor Brown’s obedience to Spirit’s declaration,  Refreshing Springs Church of God in Christ was founded in March 2009.

Pastor Brown and Family

In 1980, Pastor Brown married his childhood sweetheart, Tarita A. Wilson, who is a virtuous woman, an exceptional wife, a devoted mother, a fiery missionary, and a faithful First Lady.  To this union, three unique and handsome sons were birthed:  A. Wendell III (Susan), Quentin (Nicole), and Kyle (Clarissa).  Through their 42 years of covenant marriage, God has been [and still is] the guiding power of his family.  An educated man of faith and perseverance, Pastor Brown was conferred an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Purdue University and Indiana Wesleyan University Marion, respectively.  Additionally, he retired from Delphi Corporation after 30 years of service as a Global Supply Management Leader and has worked as an adjunct professor for the past 15 years at Ivy Tech Community College.
